Kids & Families

This is a quick link to our Calendar, where all of our programs, events, and sign-ups are!  Families can find activities to share together year round, indoor and outdoor, lead by FCL’s teachers and child development specialists.  New and regular yearly programs are continually being developed to provide useful, practical, and FUN programs and events for everyone.

Fairmount Community Library’s offers a monthly virtual and in-person family-focused program for young explorers, scientists and inventors!  Children enjoy learning with their family/parent, from home, with the help of our guided instructional videos available on our YouTube channel!  Learning Lab topics range from growing ladybugs from larva, making slime, learning about weather, and building with magnets.

Being a parent is a tough job that doesn’t (and shouldn’t!) need to be done alone.  Fairmount Community Library is committed to helping parents navigate all the different chapters in their child’s life, being a place where parents can find valuable resources, fun things to do, and a community who cares.

Parents, babies and young toddlers can greatly benefit from resources available at Fairmount Community Library by listening to language during story time at the park, shaking a maracca during a music class, and being read new (to them) books at home.  Resources for meeting milestones, where to find help, and where to connect are available here.

Preschool-aged kids LOVE the Fairmount Community Library because so much of what we do is with them in mind!  This wild and fun time in your child’s life and is full of wonder and curiosity, playing and learning, and singing and dancing… and we are here for all of it! Join our year round  programs and events, and make FCL a regular part of your weekly schedule with your little one!

“Gradeschoolers” are ready to solve problems, meet challenges, and grow in their independence.   Summer Reading is especially important for this age group to prevent the “summer slide”, and they can earn weekly prizes for logging their reading time and finished books! FCL is committed to helping make life-long readers realize their love for books, reading, and learning.

Young teens and high schoolers can find their required reading lists, join book clubs, and other programs that Fairmount Community Library is continuing to grow and develop.
